Poster abstract sessions – the top 10 abstracts will be selected for presentation as moderated posters on Monday afternoon whilst other accepted abstracts will be presented and judged on Tuesday afternoon.

Young Investigator Prize

Combined BCS/BAS/BSCR with the top 5 applications being selected for oral presentation on Tuesday lunchtime with a first prize of £1,000. Open to basic scientists who are no more than 5 years post-PhD and clinicians who have not attained consultant status. Application requires submission of a brief communication (1,000 words with up to 5 tables/figures). Please note that if your submission for the Young Investigator Prize is not shortlisted for presentation, it is not automatically entered as a standard poster abstract submission. To do this you will need to separately submit your abstract following the normal submission process and you are encouraged to do this – if your application for the Young Investigator Prize is subsequently shortlisted then you will have the option of withdrawing your standard poster abstract.

Sessions include – Bioengineering strategies for cardiovascular applications; Endothelial dysfunction in heart failure; Molecular imaging of cardiovascular inflammation; BHF Bench-to-Bedside: Towards new treatments and biomarkers; Spotlight on BHF Fellows; Basic Science Hot Topics. Registration
Open soon and free for BAS and BSCR members who should ensure that they register using the ‘BAS/BSCR Joint Meeting’ tab.
The conference dinner will be held on Monday evening (venue to be confirmed), with a reduced rate for student delegates.

Accommodation
Will be available for booking as part of the registration process.

Student Bursaries

The BAS/BSCR will consider awarding travel grants of up to £200 to bona fide students who are BAS/BSCR members and are presenting an abstract at the meeting.
